Found an animal?

Finding an injured or orphaned animal can be a very stressful experience for both you and the animal. If you find an animal that you think needs help, take a few moments to assess the situation. Careful observation and noting the exact location of the animal can give details that help decide whether or not an animal truly needs rescuing. We have three  different flow charts on this page to help - I Found a Baby Bird - now what? I found a Baby Mammal - now what? and I Found a Turtle - now what?  Please do not hesitate to call our                  Wildlife Hotline

(207)466-4700

If you have any questions or concerns. We are here to help! We are also Reuniting Specialists and can often help get babies back with their mothers.

Please be aware that Sunday River Wildlife covers the areas surrounding Sunday River in Western Maine. There are many other Rehabilitators that we work with that cover other areas of the State. We are happy to refer you to someone closer to you if that is the best option for the animal. Click on the link below to see a list of all Maine Rehabilitators and their locations.
